Barbie in Dublin. Image not shown. A 2-minute video excerpt appears on youtube: Barbie with Scissors..
I portray a preposterously aged Barbie (Aging-Activist Barbie) who shamelessly reveals her bohemian life during the 70s and her nefarious relationships with too many boydolls. My performances often deal with the spirit of woman and her transformative powers. I weave her original texts of material arising from a combination of personal, observed and fantasy experiences.
The video document (not yet uploaded in full) has been edited with original guitar music by Sean Carolan with fragments of the monologue superimposed in type over some of the action. An excerpt appears on youtube: Barbie with Scissors..
"Transformation Daze" is a garden performance relating to the Garden of Eden but with a twist of the main character- a caterpillar- becoming a butterfly/ becoming a snake who eats the apple...Butoh movement as I snake through the garden making offerings and sly glances to all those I encounter.
In August of 2012 in Homberg Am Main, Germany I performed "The Trail of Sighs and Whispers" at a Sommerakamadie. David Rodgers organized an evening of my work and his along with original music on original instruments created by David Hartman, a German scientist and musician. the work was funded by Kickstarter. My wedding dress complete with lights & Barbie Dolls was found in the trash by my painter friend Julia Healy. I'll be presenting a new piece there August 2013.
